Boxster concept car (1993)
It had the design level and finish of a very high end car while it was presented as a very affordable future model.
Boxster 986 (1996-2004)
The 996-generation 911 was based on the 986-generation Boxster. The 986 has been the only Porsche that has ever dictated anything to the iconic 911.
Boxster 987.1 (2004-2008)
With the 987-generation, the Boxster visually departed from the 911, but internally got closer when the 3.4-litre 996 engine was introduced in the Boxster S. Limited editions were also introduced.
Boxster 987.2 (2009-2012)
With the 987 facelift came the direct fuel injection engines and PDK double-clutch transmission.
Boxster 987 Spyder (2010-2012)
The original Boxster Spyder is a super cool looking car.
Boxster 987 E (2011)
Three electric Boxster test cars were created. Two cars were equipped with electric motor on the rear axle and one car with motors on both axles making it the first 4WD Boxster.
Boxster 981 (2012-2016)
The supercar looking 981 was the first Boxster that made the 911 Cabriolet jealous. Also technically, as the 981 GTS had better power-to-weight ratio than the 911 Carrera Cabriolet, and naturally for less money.
Boxster 981 Spyder (2015-2016)
While the 987 Spyder looked super, maybe even sharper than the 981 Spyder, it didn't have anything special in the engine room. the 981 Spyder got the 3.8-litre engine from the 911 Carrera S.
718 Boxster 982 (2016-2019)
The 4-cylinder engines might not be so good for cruising as the normally aspirated 6-cylinder Boxsters before, but the Turbo Boxsters are definitely faster on the track days.
